On February 13, 2025, a field meeting of the All-Ukrainian Public Organization “Ukrainian Academy of Architecture” took place at the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv”. The event was attended by the President of the UAA, Oleg Sleptsov, Vice President of the UAA, Mykola Diomin, Chief Scientific Secretary of the UAA, Volodymyr Bykov, full members of the UAA Nelia Kukovalska and Oleksandr Kashchenko, as well as directors of Ukrainian reserves and museums.
The key issues on the agenda included the establishment of the Association of Reserves and Museums within the Academy, the election of the head of the newly formed structure, and the signing of a memorandum of cooperation among its members.
Nelia Kukovalska, General Director of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv,” was elected as the first head of the UAA Association. According to her, the newly formed association will help coordinate actions between state and local authorities to address issues in the field of cultural heritage protection. This includes restoration activities, scientific work, regulatory and legislative frameworks, among others.
Additionally, participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of sharing best practices in digitization for the preservation and promotion of historical and cultural monuments, continuous monitoring, and the adoption of a law on patronage.
