On October 19, 2023, active member of the Academy of Architecture Volodymyr Bykov, together with students of architectural and construction specialties of Sumy educational institutions, monitored the condition of the Transfiguration Cathedral.
Special attention was paid to the 56-meter bell tower with chimes, its construction and design. The big bell for her was taken from the Uspensky Male Monastery. The inscription on the bell indicates that it was made at the expense of State Councilor Yakov Shubskyi.

The second, slightly smaller bell, was donated by Danylo Zabrodsky from Sumy. Chimes for the bell tower of the Transfiguration Cathedral were made by the English company "Bockenem" in 1884. The church is decorated with an iconostasis made of refined white marble and green malachite. Paintings in the interior of the temple were performed by artists V.E. Makovsky and K.V. Lebedev.

The Transfiguration Cathedral got its modern look after major restoration in 1882-1892. according to the project of Kharkiv architect M.I. Lovtsova.
