On April 7, under the chairmanship of the UAA President, Professor O.S. Sliepcov, the Western Branch of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture (UAA) held a meeting in Lviv. With the participation of professors Yu. Dyba, Ya. Taras, A. Pavliv, as well as architects O. Yarema, L. Korolyshyn, O. Baziuk, professors B. Cherkes and V. Proskuriakov attended online.
During the meeting, a number of important issues regarding industry development and international cooperation were discussed.
Special attention was paid to expanding international relations. According to the meeting participants, memoranda of cooperation were recently signed with partners from Denmark, Israel, Lithuania and Cyprus, and cooperation with German colleagues was extended. Academy representatives also participated in a conference at the Saxon Academy of Arts in Leipzig, where issues of Soviet modernism were discussed among other topics.
One of the key decisions was the organization of a student works competition that will begin on October 6 in Lviv. The plan is to include works from students from Ukraine and abroad—particularly from Austria, Poland, and Germany. The event will also feature presentations of monographs and implemented projects by UAA academicians.
Publishing activities were also discussed. In particular, the launch of the UAA Bulletin as a professional publication for academicians, as well as cooperation with the Institute of Ethnology regarding the publication of journals and a dictionary. Academy members emphasized the importance of preserving works in the Zabolotny Archive to create a comprehensive history of architecture.
The meeting also addressed cooperation with Italian partners who visited the Lviv Opera House and expressed interest in investment projects. An Italian delegation is expected to visit on April 15 for further negotiations.
The UAA plans to actively develop its presence in the media space, highlighting news and events on the academy's official website and YouTube channel.
