Master’s Architecture Thesis Defenses at KNUCA 2026

On May 21–22, 2026, the Master’s thesis defenses of students from the Department of Fundamentals of Architecture and Architectural Design at KNUCA took place. Six years of study unfolded during an exceptionally challenging period — a time when architecture in Ukraine became not only the art of creation, but also a language of restoration, memory, and hope. The COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war tested both students and faculty alike, yet they successfully met these challenges at a high professional level.

The presented diploma projects impressed with their diversity: from new construction proposals to concepts for the restoration of destroyed spaces and cities. Each project reflected not only drawings and calculations, but also a vision for the country’s future, a sense of responsibility toward society, and a desire to create spaces where people truly want to live.

A symbolic moment of the event was the visit of representatives of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, who awarded honorary certificates to the students and their academic supervisors, recognizing their contribution to the restoration of architectural heritage sites in the region damaged by war. Today, young architects prove that true architecture begins not only with drawings, but also with a shared belief in the recovery of Ukraine.

We wish the young architects a successful professional journey. May your projects become the foundation of a new Ukraine — strong, vibrant, and humane.
