On November 28, 2025, a ceremonial meeting of the Presidium of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture was held at the National Reserve “Sophia of Kyiv”, in the Metropolitan’s House—the very place where the Academy was founded and located from 1944 to 1963.
The meeting opened with the Academy’s anthem and a minute of silence. Afterwards, the President of the UAA, Oleg Sleptsov, and the Chief Scientific Secretary of the UAA, Volodymyr Bykov, congratulated Anatolii Berkuta on his 80th anniversary. He is a full member of the UAA, Vice President of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, and former Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine. The congratulations were joined by Nelya Kukovalska, Director General of the National Reserve “Sophia of Kyiv” and a full member of the UAA.
The ceremonial program continued with the awarding of students—the winners of the Second All-Ukrainian Student Competition announced by the UAA, titled “Adaptation of a Cultural Heritage Monument of National Significance: the 1600 Castle, protection No. 657, the village of Pidzamochok, Ternopil Region.”
Anatolii Matsipura, Director General of the National Reserve “Castles of the Ternopil Region,” delivered welcoming remarks to the competition participants. UAA diplomas and letters of appreciation were awarded to representatives of author teams from Lviv Polytechnic National University; Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University; the private institution “Kharkiv School of Architecture”; Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture; the Polytechnic University of Turin; and Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
