One of the important areas of activity of the Ukrainian Academy of Architecture is scientific and pedagogical, which is implemented in cooperation with higher education institutions of the country, in particular, with the National University "Poltava Polytechnic named after Yury Kondratyuk", with which the Academy has been conducting joint activities since 1992.
Active member of UAA, Honored Architect of Ukraine, Doctor of Architecture, Professor Vadim Vadimov, former at. vice-rector for scientific and international work of the Poltava Polytechnic, in 2022 he prepared the documents for the application to acquire the right to be a member of the Association of European Schools of Planning (The Association of European Schools of Planning - AESOP). The association unites the leading universities of Europe, which train architects specializing in "spatial planning". The application was considered positively and the University became a member of the Association.
Poltava Polytechnic maintains consistent international cooperation with leading universities in Europe. According to the program of the German government organization GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) "Integrated development of cities in Ukraine", an educational project is being implemented in cooperation with the University of Lübeck and the University of Brandenburg (Germany) to train future specialists in spatial development.
During the days of independent Ukraine, Poltava became one of the first cities in the country where a zoning plan was developed and approved under the program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) (1996). According to the GIZ program, Poltava developed and approved the Concept of Integrated Development (2018) for the first time in Ukraine.
At the AESOP Conference in July 2022 in the city of Tartu (Estonia), the proposal from the Poltava Polytechnic and the proposal from the IUAV University (Venice, Italy) for the March 2023 meeting of the heads of AESOP schools of architecture were considered. As a result of voting by representatives of AESOP schools of architecture, it was decided that the next meeting will be held in Poltava. Therefore, Poltava Polytechnic will have the honor of meeting representatives of European architectural schools.
