The event was prepared by the Yuriy Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic National University with the help of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.

In connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine and the lack of the possibility of safely holding the 18th AESOP Heads of Schools Meeting at the National University "Poltava Polytechnic named after Yury Kondratyuk" in the city of Poltava (Ukraine), the AESOP CoRep decided to provide an alternative venue for the meeting - Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovakia).

The Heads of Schools Meeting (HoS) is an annual educational planning forum traditionally held in the spring (March-April). It is attended by delegates from AESOP member schools (both school heads and any key persons appointed by them) to discuss the main problems and challenges facing European education planning, and to exchange ideas on ways to solve them.

On July 26, 2022, the National University "Poltava Polytechnic named after Yury Kondratyuk", the first higher educational institution from Ukraine, received the status of a member of AESOP (Association of European Schools of Planning) for a period of 3 years without paying organizational fees.

AESOP is the only representation of planning schools in Europe. AESOP has more than 150 members from various European countries. AESOP brings together academics and educators to train future qualified professionals, architects, urban planners, professional organizations, politicians and other key stakeholders in spatial and urban development and management across Europe.

The event was held under the slogan "Future Planning and Development within Emergencies" ("Future planning and development in emergency situations") in face-to-face and remote format.
